Newcomers: How to Get Started
New to Zen?
For those who have limited or no experience with meditation, we recommend that you first attend a Sunday Dharma Talk. There you will get a sense of the community and practice at Open Mind Zen. Then, talk to Roshi Al or one of our other teachers to schedule a Beginner’s Orientation Session (about an hour). During that time, we’ll acquaint you with simple beginning mindfulness techniques, and explain the history and method of Open Mind Zen practice. After that, you’ll be able to become a member and begin or continue your spiritual journey.
For those who have substantial experience with Zen already, give us a call so we can more effectively determine what your best method of practice might be.
